Coronavirus Update

Written by Martin Parish. Posted in Uncategorised

The UK Resus Council have confirmed that their ‘Pandemic Protocols’ are not to be considered temporary and we are to treat them as the new norm. This means that a leaner only has to demonstrate effective chest compression to demonstrate competence.

The group size is now an increasingly important factor as distancing still needs to be observed on any course. We are minded to cap any course to 12 unless the room size permits otherwise.

Whilst Coronavirus is currently in the news, First Emergence Ltd would like to confirm that we are operating as usual.

We would like to confirm that all our equipment is sanitised after each course and cleaned after each person has used any of our training equipment.

In order to meet the requirements for CPR, a learner has always been required to demonstrate Effective Chest Compressions and Rescue Breaths. This has not changed. If any learner want to supply and use a barrier device such as a face shield or pocked mask, this is fine with us.

Change to booking process

Written by Martin Parish. Posted in Uncategorised

From the 1st April 2020, we shall be changing our booking policy.  Over the past year we have had several occurrences where a customer has cancelled on the day and is then refusing to pay the invoice.  As a business, a training event carries costs whether the training is completed or not.

Our terms are that we will cancel a booking with no fee with minimum 14 days notice.  We will reschedule a booking with no fee with minimum 7 days notice.  Else, full amount payable.  This has been in place since 2015 and compared to a lot of other companies, extremely generous.

From the 1st April 2020, all bookings taken will be provisional until the invoice is paid.

Baby Shark?

Written by Martin Parish. Posted in News

Holly and Phillip on This Morning TV Show demonstrated CPR to the tune ‘Baby Shark’.

The tune according to is set to 115 bpm which is fine as the range for CPR is 100-120 bpm, but Baby Shark does speed up and is annoying as hell.

I’m all for general awareness campaigns but I’m wondering if we’ll remember Baby Shark in twelve months time.  Most professional training companies refer to Stayin’ Alive by the Bee Gees which is 104 bpm.  This track was released in 1977 and it is still going strong.

No Baby Shark here.
